Context

Black-and-white appeal poster pairing a single photograph of orphans gathered at the open arched gate of an NER orphanage with a short, direct text block. The argument is closure: 67,000 children are inside the gates, and only sustained American giving will keep them there. The text foregrounds the consequence of withdrawal - "compelled to go out again upon the streets where already there are thousands hungry, cold, sick - and dead". It ends with the imperative "Keep Them Inside."

The 67,000 figure aligns with NER's reported orphan census during 1921–1923, the peak years of the organization's institutional care load. The poster is undated and unsigned; its photographic style, typography, and use of the standardized name "Near East Relief" place it after the August 1919 federal incorporation.
